A sampling of the local flavor

Texas music

Reckless Kelly

These are a couple of shirt graphics designed for the one and only Reckless Kelly, Texas music legends. The swoopy “Reckless Kelly, Austin, Texas” piece here was a jersey graphic designed for a softball game they were organizing. Now, this was done in 2001, but with a little research, I discovered that their infamous annual Celebrity Softball Jam originated in 2008/2009. So, maybe the graphic was for an early forerunner? Not sure. But a little mystery is good, right?

Other Texas stuff

H-E-B

Did design work for H-E-B, the #1 grocery retailer in the U.S. and a brand that tops just about every "-est" list. To Texans it's less a grocery store and more a way of life.

Role: Design

The Gambrinus Company

Designed marketing materials for The Gambrinus Company out of San Antonio—the folks behind Spoetzl Brewery's Shiner beers. The oldest independent brewery in Texas and possibly the most iconic beer in the state.

Role: Design

Texas Monthly

Designed print pieces and a special advertising section for Texas Monthly—a magazine that's been telling Texas stories and gracing Texas coffee tables since 1973.

Role: Design

Jack Brown Cleaners

Led a rebrand for Jack Brown and Slater-White Cleaners—much loved, family-owned dry cleaning chains that have been fixtures on street corners across central Texas for decades. The full refresh: logo, store design and graphics, vehicle wraps, print, digital, all the stuff.

Role: Creative direction, design

City of Kyle

Designed the logo for the City of Kyle. Creative direction: Texas and bluebonnets. Probably holds my personal record for largest display (water towers) and most reproductions, though it might just seem that way because I live here and see it everywhere.

Role: Design

Fun fact: This is the only portfolio piece to have the honor of being displayed in my front yard.

Wildly Austin

Designed a book cover for a collection showcasing Austin's quirky commercial sculptures—the kind of oversized, weird, wonderful landmarks that define(d) the city's character.
